Bark Ball: A Doggone Great Time
By the time we reached the hotel, my date and I had been arguing. We pulled up, and in his typical style he bolted from the car, leaving me to pull out our luggage and tip the valet. Stumbling toward the check-in counter, I gave him a tough tug and quietly but curtly explained that if he didn’t start behaving, we would be going home early. There we were—my date pouting and acting immature while I silently fumed.

Annual Bark Ball corially invites you and your pooch

The Washington Humane Society is hosting a ball for D.C. bigwigs and their pets Saturday, June 17.  Event honorees include Andrew Sullivan, Time magazine columnist and blogger, and Aaron Tone, portrait artist and painter. Both are apparently “devout animal lovers,” according to the invitation.  Members of Congress who are serving on the 2006 Bark Ball Honorary Committee include Sens. Parvovirus Hits District Dogs

The Washington Humane Society says an outbreak of the deadly canine parvovirus has hit the District’s dog population. The highly contagious and often fatal dog disease has hit particularly hard in the areas of Benning Road and Maryland Avenue, NE , and along East Capitol Street east of the Anacostia River .
