COMCAST OF THE DISTRICT
OF COLUMBIA AND
WASHINGTON HUMANE SOCIETY ENTER PARTNERSHIP
Agreement Aimed at Finding Homes for Shelter Animals, Promoting
Responsible Pet Care
Washington, DC - Washington Humane Society and
Comcast of the District today announced a partnership through which
Comcast will provide nearly $100,000 worth of production resources
and airtime to promote the work of WHS. Comcast will produce a series
of 5-minute reports to air on CNN Headline News Comcast Local Edition
and provide airtime to run four 30-second adoptions public service
announcements-produced by the Howard University Film Organization-across
the Comcast cable network. Comcast will also showcase adoptable
WHS shelter animals on Comcast's On Demand service beginning later
this month.
"This will make a big difference in the lives
of the thousands animals we protect and care for," says WHS
Executive Director Howard Nelson. "In terms of finding animals
homes, On Demand animal listings will be a really important and
helpful innovation. On Comcast our message of adopting and caring
for animals will reach thousands of people, and it will help us
pursue our Good Home Guarantee, a plan to find a home for every
adoptable animal in our shelter. If WHS were to purchase the airtime,
it would cost us well over $90,000. That sort of generosity sets
a lot of tails wagging and a lot of cats purring!"
"Comcast is excited to enter into this new
partnership with the Washington Humane Society," said Tony
Hollinger, Comcast of the District Vice President and General Manager.
"Leveraging our products and services in a way that allows
organizations like WHS to reach the community is just one way that
Comcast connects residents of the District with what's important
in their lives," he added.
