Washington Humane Society Behavior & Learning
Center
The
new training facility located on 7315 Georgia Avenue, NW is set
to open by mid-2008. The Learning Center will offer competitively
priced private and group lessons -- for both dogs and cats.
The Washington Humane Society's Behavior & Learning Department
will utilize the new training facility to work with adoptable dogs
and cats and train volunteers and staff on the philosophies of animal
learning. Group training classes open to the public will provide
education and training in subjects such as socialization, preparedness,
general manners, specific obedience, general cat and dog care topics,
and even a leash aggression class.
With the move of our Spay/Neuter Clinic to our new National Capital
Area Spay & Neuter Center on Capital Hill, we were left with
a vacancy on the main floor of our old Spay/Neuter Clinic on Georgia
Avenue in Northwest. With the amazing work of Rand Construction
Corp. of Alexandria, Virginia, we removed the dividing walls of
the old surgical suites to open up one, large, useable space, big
enough to construct a training center that could hold group training
classes and private lessons.
For the first time in the history of the
Washington Humane Society's 137 year mission to serve and protect
the animals in the District of Columbia, we now have our own indoor
venue to hold behavior and learning classes for both the animals
and people of the Washington, DC metro area.
Please
check back soon for a schedule of our upcoming classes, or for more
information please contact Kevin Simpson, 202-723-5730 (ext. 122)
